Beaches, art cities, beautiful spots, UNESCO World Heritage sites such as: Castel del Monte, a symbol of medieval military architecture, Trulli of Alberobello, prehistoric buildings characterized by circular plants, white dry stone walls, small windows and unique spectacular pinnacles. About 1500 Trulli are today still functional as houses, charming hotels and shops. Other UNESCO World Heritage masserie are Sassi di Matera with the Park of the Rupestrian Churches, which show the evolution of a culture in an historic atmosphere, and the Sanctuary of San Michele Arcangelo, located in Monte Sant'Angelo, was the main worship center of the West. Natural sites as the beautiful National Park of Gargano, located inside the promontory, which contains a variety environment unique in the region, the Salt Mines of Santa Margherita di Savoia, the Canyons of Castellaneta and the protected oasis of Alimini lakes. Not far away, Ostuni, a white pearl in a clear blue sea, famous for its picturesque historic center consisting of whitewashed houses and buildings dating back to the Middle Ages, and for the Masserie, old farmhouses dotting the countryside which preserve the memory of traditional farming life and are now stylish country houses.
